My Reflection

I have read The Screwtape Letters a few times over the years. To be completely honest, it has never been my favourite C.S. Lewis book. The upside-down, demonic perspective can feel a bit draining. However, committing to this 365-day journey means giving it another fair go—and today's reading reminded me exactly why Lewis is a master of human nature.

"The more often he feels without acting, the less he will be able ever to act, and, in the long run, the less he will be able to feel."

Why This Matters

Lewis hits on a terrifying psychological truth here. Screwtape (the senior demon) is advising his nephew to let humans feel good intentions, as long as they never do anything about them. If we feel a wave of compassion but don't help anyone, or if we feel inspired to change our lives but do nothing, our hearts actually start to harden. Good feelings without actions are just cheap illusions.

My Action for Today

To combat this "feeling without acting" trap, I am moving from thoughts to deeds today. Instead of just thinking about starting this blog, I am officially hitting publish.
